It was nice seeing Bill and Lucy in April
|
Back in April we went to Inverness Florida to ride in a recumbent gathering. We rode the Withlachoochee rails-to-trail bike and recreational path, riding south on one day and north on the next. We also went to a neat flea market in a nearby town. Maybe I’ll tell more and show photos over on bentrider.info. In any case, that is not all we did. We were only about 30 minutes from Bill and Lucy (Jeanne’s sister) so spent one evening with them, joining them first at a really good BBQ restaurant and then after dinner spending the evening at their place. It was just as neat and spiffy as always, and they were warm hosts as always. Bill and Lucy really enjoy living in the Villages. Lucy loves the social activities; the gathering of Easter stuff on her counter evidence of something coming up. Bill plays a lot of golf and really likes living right on a golf course, and having many others to choose from. It was great seeing them in such good spirits and they seem to be having as much fun in their retirement as we are in our’s. |

Whenever we see them we often think about the good times we had when they lived in Hattiesburg and Bill worked at the University with me. I’ll share one particular memory. Lucy is very creative and has expressed that creativity in different ways over the years. At one time she made small figures for display boxes and I believe that she now makes ornamental Christmas trees for sale on ebay. At the time I am remembering she was buying small antiquities and selling them on the web. Since I was building web sites and hosting them as an adjunct activity I offered to set her up a site, for free of course. She would need a name and I suggested Lucy’s Hits. She liked that. Everyone liked it. Then I observed that, of course, she would need a domain name and it would need to be lucyshits.com. We laughed and laughed and laughed. I was driving and she was sitting behind me which made pulling the hair at the nap of my neck convenient. We laughed, she pulled, we laughed, she pulled. It was a great time.
