Fast, sweet, and all mine

| Meet my new Rans Stratus XP. I picked it up in Jackson on 22 September and the next weekend rode it 82 miles. It felt really good and I could still walk afterwards; and I was not even sore the next morning. The smooth, sweet ride is the major difference between a recumbent and a wedgie bike.
It was my birthday ride, although not actually on my Oct 4th birthday (We often celebrate on a near day). Also, it was not the traditional “ride your age”, i.e. 65 years = 65 miles; the extra was some to grow on, I guess. Anyway, look at me. Go ahead, click. Please. Do I look like I could not ride 82 miles. When I tell people I rode that far they get an instantaneous facial expression that says “unbelievable”. Pronounce that “Un–Believe–Able“. They recover quickly, but … damage done. Then when I tell them I have only been bent (i.e. recumbent) since summer, well, I could blow them over. I know a secret. What I could never do on a regular bike I can do on a recumbent. And you can too. You don’t even have to be 65 years old and feisty. Check out recumbents on ebay |

| What has cycling done for me? Well, in the short time I have been bent my blood pressure is lower, e.g. often lower than 120/80, and my pulse is frequently in the 50’s, a couple of times recently at 48. And my sugar readings are lower. |
